I remember my mother told me when she was little in Jamaica her grandmother told my mother that her father and grandmother was born in Jamaica but his grandmother was born in Africa from Kongo Kingdom. While my DNA on my father side are Yoruba. But if you ask me where I from I usually say Canada because I was born here while my background is Jamaican. I belief we should not forget our African ancestors but most of us do not know our Africans roots because after math of slavery and colonialism.

Am Canadian who parents from Jamaica, like UK many black people come here recently since 1960s and 70s but due have some of us especially in province of Nova Scotia most of them been here in Canada 300 years ago and even 400 years ago.

Is true we should know where we come from but it was against law to keep most of our culture and we mass media for so long mention Africa it was and still is so negative. Our ancestors did not choice to leave Africa.

Nella I do not think is funny when African American from Brooklyn or anywhere from US said only America because like Jamaicans and rest of us in disposal been kidnapped from Africa centuries ago for slavery.
